Women's Soccer Topples Anne Arundel, 2-1

ELynn V1 10
BEL AIR, Md. - In a rematch of the last two Region XX Championship Games, the Harford women's soccer team (10-1-0, 5-1-0) was again victorious over the visiting Anne Arundel squad (8-5-1, 4-2-0) at Harford Stadium on Tuesday night by a 2-1 final. All-American Beth Lambros contributed to both Fighting Owl tallies with a goal and an assist.

The Fighting Owls rebounded from their only loss of the season with this win, but it didn't come easy. As the clock was ticking down to signal the end of the first half, Erin Lynn saw daylight between Lambros and the defense. She sqweaked a pass to her classmate, and Lambros beat a defender and fired a rocket off the far post. With just 17 seconds remaining in the half, the All-American gathered her own rebound and beat the Pioneer keeper high for a thrilling 1-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Lambros fed a streaking Beth Novak to give Harford a 2-0 lead. Novak sent her fourth goal of the season into the lower corner.

Anne Arundel fought back, however, netting their first goal of the game in the 75th minute. They also had a few chances late that the Fighting Owl defense thwarted. Alexa Carlevaro made a crucial slide tackle on a one-v-one opportunity late to prevent the equalizer. Audrey Baldwin made two stops in the win.

The Fighting Owls travel to Nassau for two games in two nights on Friday and Saturday. Harford will challenge Nassau on Friday at 5 p.m. and Monroe on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
