LARGO, Md. - Despite a combined 40 points from guards
Lionel Perkins and
Jada Johnson, the Harford men's basketball team (4-2, 0-2 MDJUCO) dropped a close conference contest at Prince George's on Tuesday, 72-70.
Trailing by two, Johnson missed a lay-up with 14 seconds left and the Fighting Owls were forced to foul. The PG Owls' forward missed the front end of a 1-and-1 and Harford nabbed the rebound for a final attempt to force overtime.
Johnson missed a jumper from the corner, and
Jeff Joynes missed a pair of put backs as the buzzer sounded in thew loss.
Adam Fongyen scored nine points but pulled in a career-high 19 rebounds.
The Fighting Owls return to the hardwood for the first of four-straight home contests on Dec. 1 against Garrett at 7 p.m.
