LARGO, Md. - The high-scoring Harford men's soccer team was held in check in its first road game of the season, dropping the conference matchup at Prince George's on Wednesday, 5-3. Despite taking an early 2-0 lead, the Fighting Owls allowed five-straight goals in their first loss of the season.
Harford, who entered the game averaging 23.5 shots per game, was held to just nine shots, five on goal in the loss. The high-octane offense still managed three goals, but it wasn't enough in the MDJUCO opener.
For the third-straight game, Jacob Duarte netted the game's first goal, giving him three on the year. Moments later, Kevin Webster sent one through off an assist from James Tweedie to give Harford a 2-0 lead.
As the half came to an end, Prince George's started its comeback. PG scored its first goal with six minutes remaining in the stanza on a break away, and knotted the score with two minutes remaining, sending the contest to a 2-2 score at intermission.
The PG Owls continued the offensive showcase with three more goals, putting the game out of reach. Harford, however, netted one final tally with four minutes remaining, as Ryan Corn scored his first career goal.
In net, George Tsakiris made five saves, and Patrick Parrish made a pair of stops in his first collegiate action.
The Fighting Owls return home for the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday against Delaware Tech-Terry at 7 p.m.
