BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's soccer team (4-4-1, 1-4-1) was shutout at home on Tuesday, dropping a 3-0 decision to Essex (6-0-1, 4-0-1).
After winning their first four home games by a total score of 23-3, the Fighting Owls have not scored a goal at Harford Stadium in their last three matches (0-2-1), which includes a scoreless draw to open the string.
Tuesday's contest was no different, as the Essex Knights held the offense to 11 shots, four on goal. Harford managed a few scoring chances late in the second half, but at that moment found themseleves in a 2-0 hole.
Essex scored with 34 second left in the first half. After a Knight was left alone in front, he angled his shot to the far post for the last-minute tally. Three minutes into the second half, Essex expanded its lead when Mikias Teketele gathered the ball and beat George Tsakiris high with a powerful shot.
Teketele closed the scoring in the 89th minute when he was all alone in front of the net, giving Tsakiris no chance at keeping him at bay.
The Fighting Owls face Valley Forge Military on the road on Friday.
