LEWES, Del. - The Harford volleyball team opened the 2010 season at the Bash at the Beach Tournament this weekend, winning the third game on Friday before dropping both Saturday contests. The Fighting Owls defeated the hosts from Delaware Tech on Friday.

Teams played three-set matches in the round robin portion of the event on Friday. After winning the first set, Harford dropped the first match to Harcum, 22-25, 26-24, 25-23. Sophomore Kaitlyn Hall collected 17 digs in defeat. Catonsville stopped the Fighting Owls in straight sets in the second match, 26-24, 25-19.

The Fighting Owls earned their first victory of the year with a 25-21, 21-25, 25-18 victory over Del Tech in the final match of the opening day. Emma Anderson led the charge with 13 assists.

On Saturday, in a double-elimination tournament set up by the previous days results, Harford was eliminated after losses to Catonsville and Del Tech.

In the first match of the day, Catonsville defeated the Fighting Owls 25-14, 26-24, 14-25, 25-19. Anderson paced the offensive attack with a career-high 31 assists. Freshman Ashley Dorsey at a career-best 14 kills, and classmate Amanda Mackey had six aces.

The Fighting Owls were swept out of action with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-21 loss to Del Tech. Anderson added 11 assists and Hall collected nine digs.
