Men's Basketball Falls At Chesapeake

WYE MILLS, Md. - The Harford men's basketball team (5-9, 1-6 MDJUCO) was taken down by a hot-shooting Chesapeake team on Wednesday, 81-68. Despite having just five active players available for the contest, the Fighting Owls put up a fight until the final four minutes of play.

After trailing by 16 points at the half, Harford begin its comeback behind the all-around play of Brandon Selby and Adam Fongyen. The Fighting Owls cut the Skipjacks' lead to just one with 10:22 remaining. The two teams traded buckets for the next five minutes, until Chesapeake refound its touch from long-distance.

The Skipjacks connected on back-to-back triples at the 3:30 mark to extend the lead and wore down a Fighting Owls squad without a bench. The Skipjacks shot 13-for-28 from behind the arc.

Selby totaled 26 points and 10 rebounds while Fongyen joined the double-double party with 13 points and 13 rebounds.  Jeff Joynes added 22 points in the losing effort.

The Fighting Owls return to action on Thursday with a home contest against St. Mary's at 7 p.m. The Harford Athletic Department has announced that the contest will be free admission.
