BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's soccer team (9-1-0, 5-1-0) posted nine goals en route to its fifth conference win of the season on a rainy Thursday night. The Fighting Owls bested Frederick (0-10-0, 0-7-0), 9-0 at home.
The Fighting Owls control their own destiny with two conference games remaining. Should Harford win Saturday at Cecil and Oct. 18 at Catonsville, head coach
Jason Muffoletto's squad would clinch at least a share of the MD JUCO title with Rockville, which the Fighting Owls defeated 1-0 in overtime in September.
Harford out shot the Cougars 41-2, including 30 shots on goal. Five different players were involved in at least two goals, led by sophomore
Kristina Rivera's one goal, three assist effort.
Becky McManus and
Christina Verzi each tallied a pair of goals.
Erica Coley and
Kerri Valladares had a goal and an assist apiece.
Tajae Harris recorded her first collegiate point with an assist in the first half.
The game was halted for 44 minute due to a lightning delay. The Fighting Owls travel to Cecil for a noon start on Saturday.
