BALTIMORE - In a long line of firsts for the Harford men's soccer program, add Conference Champions to the list. With their 11th-straight conference win, a 1-0 shutout of CCBC-Catonsville on Tuesday, the No. 18 Fighting Owls won the 2011 MD JUCO Championship.
Harford (13-2-1, 11-0-1 MD JUCO) recorded its ninth consecutive win overall and eighth shutout of the season against the Cardinals, as rookie goalkeeper
Justin Brooks improved to 7-2-1 and lowered his goals-against average to 1.08 with his second shutout of the year.
Brian Steinour proved the offense for Harford, scoring his fourth goal of the season.
The Fighting Owls earned their first career national ranking earlier this month while continuing to pile up the victories. The 13 wins is a school record, as well as the 11-straight conference wins and nine-straight overall victories. Harford's first conference championship gives the men's squad their first ever top seed in next week's Region XX Championships, held at Anne Arundel.
The No. 18 Fighting Owls host Mercer on Thursday at 6 p.m. The contest is also Sophomore Night.
