BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford volleyball team (8-4, 5-3) took down Chesapeake (5-7, 2-5) in four sets during the annual 'Think Pink' event on Wednesday. The Fighting Owls were victorious 19-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-17.
Five Fighting Owls tallied at least four kills. Freshman
Lauren Cappellini led the way with a double-double of 10 winners and 11 digs. Classmate
Brandi Smith added six kills, eight service aces and eight digs.
Amanda Mackey and
Kori Hawkins chipped in with five kills apiece, while
Marissa Curran had four kills and a match-high nine aces.
Tina Arzola spread the wealth for the Harford offense, collecting 29 assists.
Rachel Jirsa had 10 digs from the libero position.
Harford Athletics welcomed Upper Chesapeake Cancer LifeNet to the annual event to help raise awareness for breast cancer. The Athletic Department held raffles and contests to help raise money for the cause, and both teams were decked out in pink attire.
The Harford soccer teams will both be in action in their pink gear on Thursday for their annual 'Think Pink' night, beginning at 5 p.m. against Anne Arundel.
The volleyball team travels to Garrett on Friday for a 7 p.m. start.
