Women's Soccer Earns Shutout In Home Opener

BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's soccer team (3-0-0, 2-0-0 MD JUCO) earned a shutout victory over Southern Maryland on Tuesday, 5-0. The Fighting Owls outshot the Hawks 31-3 in the team's home opener.

Freshman Cella Cerrato opened the scoring for the Fighting Owls with a nifty move and laser shot over the goalie's outstretched arms. Kerri Valladares added another goal before halftime.

The Fighting Owls turned it up offensively in the second half. Kristina Rivera assisted on the next two goals, one from Rachel Keeley and the other on a breakaway goal for Becky McManus. Erica Coley added the final marker for Harford.

Audrey Baldwin made three saves in net to improve to 3-0-0 on the year, earning her second consecutive combined shutout with Maggie Shifflett.

The Fighting Owls face non-conference opponent Harcum On Thursday at 6 p.m. at Harford Stadium.
