BEL AIR, Md. - Sophomore middle hitter
Amanda Mackey led the way for the Harford volleyball team (4-1, 2-0) in a sweep of conference foe Cecil (0-2, 0-2) on Wednesday. The conference's leading hitter totaled 12 kills and a .524 hitting percentage in the 25-19, 25-23, 25-17 victory.
Mackey, a Second-Team All-Conference selection as a freshman, currently leads the MD JUCO with a .392 hitting percentage. On Wednesday, the sophomore executed a match-high 12 kills against just one error in 21 attempts (.524).
Six other Fighting Owls contributed offensively, including four kills apiece for
Brandi Smith and
Marissa Curran.
Kori Hawkins and
Tina Arzola had three each.
Arzola chipped in with 17 assists and five digs, while
Maddie Hewitt added a match-best 16 digs.
The Fighting Owls travel to Baltimore City on Friday for a conference showdown at 7 p.m.
