BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford Fighting Owls saw their season come to an end in the Region XX Final for the second-straight season, losing 2-1 to CCBC Essex on Saturday.
The Fighting Owls trailed for a majority of the contest, but tied the score in the 79th minute, only to have it taken away from them with 2:03 remaining on a breakaway goal.
Sophomore
Glenn Grove netted the equalizer off a corner kick play with a perfectly placed shot. It was his seventh goal of the season.
Tim Franczkowski and
Felipe Botteon set the play up.
Windell Reid, who had his 293:51 minute scoreless streak snapped in the loss, made a career-high seven saves. His career-best scoreless streak had spanned across seven matches.
The season ends for the Fighting Owls, with a record of 11-6-0, the second-best in school history. Last year's school-record setting season saw the team lose 3-2 to Southern Maryland in the final two minutes of the championship game, as well.
