BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's basketball team (2-4) couldn't capture the lead down the stretch from MD JUCO-leading Baltimore City (5-1) in a 79-72 home loss on Wednesday. The Fighting Owls got within three points in the final minutes on three different ocassions, but a strong second half from BCCC was too much to handle.
The Panthers used a 16-4 second-half spurt to take a 56-44 lead with 13:20 remaining. Harford wouldn't go away, slowly chipping away with quality free throw shooting and mid-range floaters from
Malachi Seney, but couldn't get any closer than three in the conference loss.
Jeff Joynes finished with a team-best 18 points, followed by Seney and Dimitrious Jelen-Joy's 14 markers.
Carlos Brown chipped in with 12 points and six boards.
The Panthers connected on 10-of-30 3-pointers in the win, compared to Harford's 3-for-13. Harford travels to Cecil on Saturday.
