BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford volleyball team (1-0) earned a straight-sets victory over Harcum (0-1) in both team's 2012 season opener. The Fighting Owls totaled 38 service aces en route to a 25-10, 25-5, 25-10 victory.

Sophomore Brandi Smith, who led the conference last year in aces, picked up right where she left off, tallying a game-high eight aces. She added five kills in seven attempts for a game-high .571 attack percentage.

Newcomer Lexie Roberts led all Fighting Owls with seven kills while adding five aces. Alyssa Jenkins and Abby Claborn also chipped in with five aces, while Alissa Buettner, Maddie Hewitt and Rachel Jirsa each totaled four.

The victory was the first for first-year head coach Christy Callahan. The Fighting Owls return to action on the road on Wednesday at Anne Arundel.
