Box Score
BEL AIR, Md. -- The Fighting Owls raced out to an early lead and never took their foot off the pedal in a 6-0 defeat of the Catonsville Cardinals.
Harford (2-1, 2-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the contest and kept piling on. They dominated the game in every way, a fact that was demonstrated by the lopsided 54-2 shot total in the Fighting Owls' favor.
Ashley Tauber kicked off the scoring in the third minute with a blast from 20 yards that overpowered the Cardinals' keeper.
Madison Ferrara provided the assist.
Kerri Valladares was equally impressive with a 25 yard rocket that hit the bottom of the crossbar and over the goal line to make 2-nil just 9:41 into the contest.
The Fighting Owls' attack was relentless and if not for some superb play from Catonsville keeper
Kayla Reno, the score could have been much more lopsided. She turned away 20 of the 26 shots on goal Harford sent her way.
Harford forward
Lorianne Hill hit the back of the net twice to put Harford up 4-0 before half time.
Christie Brown set her up with a tap-in from a low cross to the far post for her first goal.
Rachel Keeley sent a long pass from the back to set Hill free on a breakaway in which she deposited a perfectly placed shot past Reno into the low left corner.
Harford continued to tack on in the second half with a
Christina Verzi goal from just outside the box and a
Brianna Worthington goal from a
Katie Doleschal cross. Harford keeper
Maggie Shifflett was only forced to make two saves in her first shutout of the season.
Harford will look to improve to 3-0 in the MD JUCO Conference when they travel to face Frederick in their first road test of the season on Friday.
