BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's soccer team (3-3-0) lost a physical match against Burlington (2-0-0) on Sunday, 4-1. The Fighting Owls scored their lone goal in the 85th minute to prevent the shutout.
Harford's highlight came after a save by freshman goalie
Windell Reid. He powered a kick over all Baron defenders to freshman
Gus Palma on the left side of the field. The Burlington goalkeeper was forced to come out and make a play on the pass, and after he misjudged it, Palma tapped the ball in on an empty net for his first goal of the season. It was also the first assist by the Harford keeper.
For the other 85 minutes of the contest, the Baron's physical play was the story. Burlington scored in the first two minutes of the game, but had numerous more chances. Reid made some nice saves, and the Harford defense made saves on an open net a total of three times in the contest.
The Barons added three second-half goals to put the game out of reach. Four different players scored goals, while Joshua Parades and Jerry Tamfu each had a goal and an assist for the visitors.
The Fighting Owls travel to Anne Arundel on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
