Women's Soccer Opens Rhode Island Trip With Scoreless Tie

WARWICK, R.I. - The Harford women's soccer team (3-2-1) played to a scoreless tie against Rhode Island (4-1-2) on Friday in the first of two contests in the nation's smallest state. Sophomore keeper Maggie Shifflett made seven saves in 110 minutes of action.

The Fighting Owls outshot the Knights 19 to 10, but both goalies were stout on the afternoon, preserving the clean slate on both ends. CCRI's Alex Place was forced to make 17 saveson her half of the field.

Sophomore forwards Erica Coley and Lorianne Hill each peppered the net with five shots. Coley had five on goal, while Hill had four.

The Fighting Owls are right back in action on Saturday when they face Monroe CC in a neutral contest at Warwick, R.I. beginning at 1 p.m.
