BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford volleyball team (2-1, 1-1) used a pair of thrilling come-from-behind victories in the first two sets but were unable to pull off the overall win in a five-set loss at home against Montgomery (5-1, 2-0) on Friday. The Fighting Owls led 12-9 in the final set before losing 15-12.

Freshman Lexie Roberts had her best performance of the young campaign, narrowly missing a triple-double. She totaled career-highs with 22 kills, nine aces and nine digs. Classmate Abby Claborn also set a career-best with 42 assists to go along with nine digs.

The Fighting Owls defense totaled 11 blocks in the win. Rookie Ashley Joyner set a personal-best with seven blocks, while Claborn, Kori Hawkins and Alyssa Buettner each chipped in with three.

Brandi Smith added nine kills and Joyner tallied seven. Maddie Hewitt had 21 digs in the loss.

The Fighting Owls host Garrett on Monday at 6 p.m.
