Box Score
BEL AIR, Md. - The second-seeded Harford women's soccer team advanced to Saturday's Region XX Championship Game with a 3-0 victory over No. 3 CCBC Essex on Thursday evening. The win avenged last season's loss to the Knights in the RXX Semifinals.
Last season, the Knights played a solid game and advanced on penalty kicks to deny Harford its eighth-straight RXX Final appearance. This season, a pair of goals in 39 seconds gave Harford an early 2-0 lead and the Fighting Owls never looked back.
Savannah Humphreys netted back-to-back goals on breakaways in the 23rd minute to send the Fighting Owls to their eighth RXX Championship tilt in the last nine years.
Evie Powell collected the assist on the second marker.
Teresa Berg added a tally in the second half to finalize the scoring.
Harford will host top-seeded Southern Maryland on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the right to advance to the District L Championship. The Hawks defeated Harford, 3-1, at Harford Stadium earlier this year.
