Men's Hoops Clinches First Round Home Game

Box Score
ARNOLD, Md. - With a 74-69 road victory to close out the regular season, the Harford men's basketball team (11-14, 8-7 MD JUCO) clinched a home game for next week's MD JUCO Tournament. After starting out sluggish, the Fighting Owls rallied in the second half for the win against a pesky Anne Arundel squad.

The home playoff game marks the first time since the 2009-10 season, when the Fighting Owls finished with an 8-5 conference mark and hosted CCBC Essex in the old Susquehanna Center.

Sophomore Roger Schuman scored all of his 10 points in the second half, kick starting the comeback. A back-and-forth second half saw the game's final tie come at 66-66, but Harford connected on a triple and never looked back.

Dimitrious Jelen-Joy led the way with 21 points, followed by Colby Giacubeno's 17. Carlos Brown and George Cooke both chipped in with eight markers.

Though the Fighting Owls regular season is complete, Harford can be anywhere from the No. 5 to No. 7 seed in next week's tournament, held at the APGFCU Arena, depending on results from Chesapeake and Howard.

Harford will now host the opening round contest on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
