Women's Lax Falls Short In Regular Season Finale

Box Score BEL AIR, Md. -- In a battle of top five women's lacrosse powers, No. 3 ranked Anne Arundel defeated No. 5 Harford, 13-10 on the strength of a dominating second half led by Pioneer attack Meghenn Jackson.
 
Harford (7-6, 5-3 MD JUCO) jumped out to 6-3 lead halfway through the first half. But with just under six minutes remaining in the half, the Fighting Owls picked up two yellow cards in quick succession to give Anne Arundel a two-player advantage. Anne Arundel (10-2, 8-0 MD JUCO) capitalized immediately with two goals in 24 seconds to cut the lead to one goal.
 
Harford responded with a goal by Colleen Chassagne to push the lead back to two but Jackson answered with a goal for Anne Arundel with 34 seconds remaining in the half to put the score at 7-6 in favor of Harford going into the break.
 
The second half was all Anne Arundel, outscoring Harford 7-3 to finish the game and cruise to the win. The Pioneers opened the half with five goals in the opening 10 minutes with a lone Harford goal squeezed in to pull ahead for good.
 
In that span, Jackson scored three goals and assisted on another. She finished the contest with six goals and three assists.
 
Sara Lebrun led Harford in scoring with three goals and an assist. Maddie Hewitt scored two goals and an assist while Chassagne and Sierra Sadtler scored two goals each. Maggie Shifflett made 11 saves on 24 shots on goal.
 
Harford's next action will be in the NJCAA Regional Tournament which will be hosted by CCBC Essex beginning on May 4th. The Fighting Owls will face Howard in the opening round.
