Women's Soccer Tops No. 5 Monroe CC, 3-2

Humphreys & Powell scored all three goals in the upset win.

BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's soccer team (8-2-0) earned its biggest win in two seasons, toppling No. 5 Monroe CC (8-3-0) at home on Sunday, 3-2. After trailling 2-0, the Fighting Owls scored three unanswered goals for the victory.

Evie Powell connected on a pair of goals in the first half to knot the score at 2-2, but it was Savannah Humphreys rebound marker in the game's 56th minute that was the difference.

Madison Smith made a career-high 10 saves in the win. The Tribunes, who rank fifth in the nation with 54 goals in 11 games, scored two goals on their first three shots. The freshman Fighting Owl keeper then turned into a brick wall to keep MCC out of the net for the game's final 75 minutes.

Humphreys 10th goal of the year leads the team and ranks third in the MD JUCO. She collected an assist on Powell's second goal to give her seven assists which ranks first in the conference.

The huge win gives Harford momentum heading into Wednesday's critical MD JUCO contest against Southern Maryland. The Hawks and the Fighting Owls have matching 5-0-0 conference records, and the winner will have a clear shot at the regular season MD JUCO title.
