BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's basketball team ran out of gas late in an 81-68 conference loss to Garrett.

The Fighting Owls led by one at the half, 30-29, despite receiving zero points from its top scoer, Chidozie Omile. Harford built an 11-point lead at the beginning of the second half as Omile scored 10 points in an 11-2 spurt.

The Lakers chipped away and took the lead for good at the 10:17 mark. Harford cut the lead to four a few times late, but Garrett pulled away with ball control and free throws.

Wyatt Smith netted 22 points in a well-balanced evening. Telvonne Lambert added 11 while Tyler Napierela netted a career-best 10 markers.

The Fighting Owls travel to Volunteer State on Saturday.
