BEL AIR, Md. - For the first time in program history, the Harford volleyball team can call themselves MD JUCO Champions. The Fighting Owls sophomores carried the team to the title on Sophomore Night.
The Fighting Owls (18-3, 10-1 MD JUCO) won the first two sets and could feel the championship within their grasp. They jumped out to a 12-0 start in the third set and claimed the crown on a powerful kill by
Lauren Brown. What else would you expect?

Lauren BrownBrown had a career night, pounding out 19 kills with just one error for a .581 hitting clip. Her fellow sophomore classmates,
Fabiana Della-Monica and
Victoria Karayinopulos were also main contributors. Della-Monica had 23 assists and a team-best four service aces while Karayinopulos collected a dozen digs and recorded a massive kill from the backline in the win.
The Fighting Owls and head coach
Christy Callahan have now won 21 of 23 MD JUCO matches in the past two years. This year's sophomore class can now claim 39 overall wins, a Region XX Championship and the 2014 MD JUCO Title.
Harford travels to Hagerstown on Oct. 27 before hosting No. 12 Monroe on Nov. 1 for the Region Championship.
