ARNOLD, Md. - The Harford women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener on the road against the defending conference and region champion Anne Arundel, 22-12.

Freshman attack Karley Bush tallied five goals in her Fighting Owl debut and Colleen Chassagne handed out four assists. Paulena Dempsey scored twice while five other found the back of the net for Harford.

Harford battled back to inch closer at 10-8, but Anne Arundel scored seven straight to pull away in the second half.

Shannon Porter and Rachel Smith split time in goal, with Porter earning six saves to Smith's five.

The Fighting Owls host Suffolk on Friday at 6 p.m.
