Clary Earns First Career Wins As Head Coach

BEL AIR, Md. - Harford head softball coach Erin Clary earned her first career wins as the Fighting Owls (2-4) swept visiting Erie CC (0-4) on Sunday. Harford scored 23 runs on 24 hits combined in the two victories.

Harford 13, Erie 5
Fours were wild in the opening game for Harford. The Fighting Owls plated four runs in the first three innings to take a commanding lead and never look back for their first win of the season.

Harford totaled 13 hits, including four doubles and a triple, while tallying 13 RBIs against the Kats. Abby Young went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and Madison Smith and Fabiana Della-Monica connected on three hits apiece. Smith scored twice, stole twice and knocked in two more while Della-Monica had a double and triple and while bringing home two more.

Sam Sullivan scattered eight hits in the complete game win, her first time pitching this season. She struck out one and walked four while allowing five earned runs.

Harford 10, Erie 1
The Kats scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning, but Harford responded with 10 unanswered, including a seven-run third inning that broke that game wide open.

Sam Day earned his first career victory, allowing the lone unearned run on just four hits while walking one batter in the first inning.

Britney Fleming went 3-for-3 with a few bunt singles, a run scored and an RBI. Morgan Kaseman and Smith both added two hits in the win.

The Fighting Owls host Northampton on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
