Women's Lax Tackles Essex, 18-15

Box Score BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's lacrosse team (5-3, 1-2 MD JUCO) won its biggest game of the season so far with an 18-15 victory over CCBC Essex (3-3, 2-1 MD JUCO). The home team was more aggressive throughout and never trailed in the win.

The Fighting Owls jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead and held off the Knights throughout the affair. Essex tied the score at 8-8 with six minutes remaining, but the Fighting Owls won the insuing draw and scored 26 seconds later to take a 9-8 advantage into the break. Harford would not relinquish the lead again and a pair of back-to-back shorthanded goals put the game away.

While the offense was running on all cylanders, the star of the night was goalie Rachel Smith. She made 12 saves in goal, including eight on free position attempts. She stopped seven of the Knights final eight FPA.

Colleen Chassagne and Karley Bush both scored four goals in the win. Paulena Dempsey, Emily Nosek and Djene Diane all scored twice.

Harford travels to Nassau on Sunday.
