Women's Soccer Streak Reaches Five

BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's soccer team won its fifth straight Friday night as Karley Bush and Brook Nigrin provided a one-two punch to sink Stevenson JV, 5-1.

Bush scored her second hat trick of the season, pushing her goal tally to eight on the season. Nigrin played provider, dishing out four assists in the match to give her seven on the season. Nigrin provided the decisive pass on all three of Bush's goals. The combo leads the team in both of the respective categories.

Harford took the lead early in the game only to see Stevenson hit right back to level things up. Nigrin began pulling the strings early and slid a great pass into the box to put Nicole Wojcik in for the opener in the 12th minute, her sixth goal of the season.

The Mustangs answered through Destiny Ferguson who got behind the Fighting Owls back line and chipped the keeper from 20 yards out to even the score at one.

The Fighting Owls took hold of the game from that point on, scoring four unanswered goals and controlling possession for the majority of the game. They scored two quick goals in the 15th and 16th minute. Bush scored her first of the match after Nigrin forced Stevenson keeper Bre Springer to make an tough save. Springer coughed up a rebound and Bush pounced to tap it in, putting Harford up 2-1.

Harford forced a corner just a minute later and capitalized on the chance to take a two-goal lead. Wojcik put a perfect ball in on the corner kick and Angela Kuhn rose up unchallenged to head it in for her fifth of the season. Wojcik picked up her third assist of the season.

Harford put the game on ice early in the second half with two quick  goals from Bush in the 53rd and 56th minute. Both goals were nearly identical as Nigrin found space down the right wing and fired a cross right into the feet of Bush. Both times Bush received the cross with a soft touch and coolly fired past the keeper.

Harford keeper Ashley King made four saves and allowed just the one goal early on.

Harford will look to extend their win streak to six as they welcome Burlington County C.C. from New Jersey. It will be game two of a four game home stand. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
