Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Goal Propels Men Past Cecil

BEL AIR, Md. - Freshman defender Josh Young scored on a free kick in the game's 79th minute to help the Harford men's soccer team defeat Cecil on Friday night. The Seahawks packed their half of the field and played a strong defensive match before eventually falling to the Fighting Owls, 2-0.

Cecil was whistled for a foul just outside the box in a scoreless match and Young bent the ball over the wall and into the back of the net for his second goal in as many contests. With 11 minutes remaining, Harford tried to keep the lead where it was, but it wasn't easy.

Moments later, Noah Walker used his head to keep a Cecil scoring chance at bay off a corner attempt and Justin Almquist did the same from almost the same location with three minutes remaining off a throw.

The Fighting Owls were then whistled for a foul about 35 yards out, and Cecil looked to have one final crack at notching the equalizer with under a minute remaining. Instead, it turned into a scoring opportunity for Harford. The free kick couldn't get through the Harford defense and Camillo Fortunato sent the ball down field to Solomon Koomson-Dadzie. The sophomore forward made a man miss and then fired a cracker into the upper 90 for one heck of a goal with 18 seconds left.

Stephen Friend earned the shutout victory. Harford hosts Delaware County on Monday at 3 p.m.
