BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's soccer team continued its winning ways with a 6-0 defeat of Delaware County on Monday afternoon.
Stephen Friend recorded his second consecutive shutout and
Nat Hand scored twice and assisted on another in the team's seventh win in their last eight contests.
Friend was only forced to make one save, but he got into the scoring action as well, lending a helping hand to Hand's second tally of the match. The goalkeeper's punt was collected around midfield and Hand blasted a shot into the back of the net.
The story of the day, though, was Harford's onslaught on goal. The Fighting Owls totaled 30 shots on goal in the win, and despite allowing six goals, Delaware County's Anastasios Bravakis was spectacular in goal, making an amazing 23 saves. There were at least four or five remarkable saves made by the freshman, so the score could have easily reached double digits.
Jordan Greenwood and
Farhan Bachu both netted their first goals of the season, while
Brandon Waite scored his second of the year.
Solomon Koomson-Dadzie also scored for Harford in the win.
The first-place Fighting Owls travel to Southern Maryland on Wednesday for a doubleheader with the first-place women's team.
