BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's basketball team earned its biggest win of the season in an 83-65 home win over first-place Chesapeake on Hall of Fame Saturday. Five Fighting Owls tallied double figures.
The victory, coupled with Baltimore City's home win over first-place Hagerstown, created a logjam atop the MD JUCO Standings. All four teams now have one conference loss and are tied for first place with three weeks to play before the MD JUCO Tournament.
Ashley Smith led the charge with 20 points while three others chipped in with 14 points.
Jazmin Johnson tallied 14 points and a career-high 12 assists while classmate Ashley Hightower also recorded a double-double with 14 markers and 13 caroms with six blocked shots.
Zana Godoy came off the bench to net 14 with three triples while
Mia Fitts added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Jasalyn Denkins just missed double figures with eight points and nine rebounds.
The Fighting Owls defense held the Skipjacks to a season-low 26.5 percent from the floor (22-of-83). Harford travels to first-place Hagerstown on Monday for an MD JUCO contest.
