BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford Volleyball team fell to Frederick in straight sets, 3-0, in a battle between 1
st and 2
nd place teams in the MD JUCO conference.
Harford (17-8, 8-2 MD JUCO) had a chance to take over first place in the conference. A win would have drawn the Fighting Owls even with Frederick (18-1, 9-0 MD JUCO) in the loss column and given them the head-to-head tie-breaker and the inside track to their second consecutive conference title.
The first set was a thriller with the visiting Cougars taking it, 30-28. Harford was unable to put the set away despite having six set points, including what seemed to be a commanding 24-21 lead.
That would be the closest Harford would come to winning a set as Frederick found their game and dominated sets two and three, 25-15 and 25-16 respectively.
Tiyana Bumbray led all players in the match with 15 kills, nearly matching her season-high of 16 against NOVA on September 2
nd. She also led the team with seven digs.
Morgan Tennant had 19 assists and chipped in with three kills.
Harford will host Allegany on Monday for their final regular season home match of the season. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
