BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's basketball team clinched a share of the MD JUCO Regular Season Title for the third-straight year with an 87-68 victory over Prince George's on Wednesday. Sophomore Ashley Smith netted her 1,000th point in the win in front of the largest crowd to see a Harford basketball game.

Smith need 12 points to become the third Fighting Owl to record the feat, and did so in the first half. She buried a long 3-pointer and seconds later made an acrobatic lay-up for the milestone. She finished the contest with a team-high 27 points on 12-of-21 shooting.

The Fighting Owls led throughout and added 44 points in the paint in the win while connecting on nine triples. Mia Fitts added 18 points and eight rebounds while Jazmin Johnson and Jasalyn Denkins both recorded double-doubles. Johnson had 14 points and 11 helpers while Denkins had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Smith joins Tiffany Taylor and Capree Garner as the only women's players with 1,000 career points at Harford.

With the win, the Fighting Owls clinch the No. 2 seed in next week's MD JUCO Tournament in Montgomery. They host Delaware Tech in a non-conference tilt on Monday.
