Sophomore
CJ Young became the latest to leave the ball park Monday afternoon as he started the fireworks with the first home run of his career at Harford. Fresh off his birthday a day prior, the second baseman launched an 0-1 pitch over the left field fence for a two-run shot. The blast was part of a seven-run first inning that all but sealed the win for Harford. The round-tripper extended Young's hit-streak to 22 games dating back to last year.
Â
John Mastrangelo had another big day at the plate for the Fighting Owls. Mastrangelo, fresh off a two-homer game Saturday, blasted his sixth home run of the season, a grand slam in the fifth inning. It was the fourth grand slam for Harford as a team and the second in as many games. Mastrangelo also hit a two-run triple in the first inning, totaling six runs batted-in in the game.
Â
Brandon Smith, Harford's hottest hitter over the past two weeks, also got in on the action, launching his third home run of the season. The sophomore third baseman is a scorching 16-for-26 (.615 batting average) with nine extra-base hits over his last eight games.
Â
Dalton Reed (5-0), pitching on his birthday, picked up the win on a pitch count. He gave three runs on four hits and a walk with one strikeout over two innings pitched. It was a staff day for the Fighting Owls as
