BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's lacrosse team pitched a second-half shutout and cruised to a 24-7 victory in its season opener on Saturday over Potomac State. The Fighting Owls outscored the Catamounts 13-0 after intermission.
The Fighting Owl freshmen scored 17 of the 24 goals, including an eight-goal outburst by
Natalie Decker in her first collegiate lacrosse game.
Maggie Hopkins netted three goals,
Kendall Barry and
Lauren Bull scored twice and
Megan Aro and
Emily Dietz chipped in with a goal each.
Sophomore All-American
Karley Bush scored five goals while classmate
Lacy Underhill added two goals and a pair of assists in the win. Freshman goalie
Allie Storke earned the win with seven saves.
Decker also led the team with seven ground balls, while Underhill added six and
Brittany Minsky had five. Minsky led the Fighting Owls with five caused turnovers.
The Fighting Owls travel to Suffolk on Wednesday.
