BALTIMORE, Md. - The Fighting Owls beat CCBC Dundalk, 16-1 to stay unbeaten in conference play Thursday afternoon. Harford (24-5, 11-0 MD JUCO) cranked out 17 hits, including home runs by
John Mastrangelo and
Dominic DiSabatino.
Â
The Harford offense put up double-digit hits for the 17th time this season as they continue to give opposing pitchers nightmares. Every player in the starting lineup reached base with eight of the nine getting at least a hit. Dundalk (3-17, 1-8 MD JUCO) was forced to use six pitchers to get through seven innings.
Â
Mastrangelo has been the team's best run producer over the last week. He went 2-for-3 with a walk and five runs batted-in on the day. He just missed a home run in the third inning, settling for a two-run double on a ball that landed at the base of the wall in center. He made no mistake on his third at-bat of the game, connecting for a three-run moon shot, well out of the ball park to left field in the fourth inning. It was his team-leading ninth home run of the season.
Â
DiSabatino launched his fifth home run of the season to left center in the sixth inning. The two-run shot was the team's 41st home run of the season, tying them for fifth in the nation. DiSabatino finished the day going 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.
Â
Brandon Smith had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles.
CJ Young kept his hit streak going with an RBI single in the first inning. He went 1-for-4 and now has a hit in 23 consecutive games.
Â
Anthony Atticks (3-2) was excellent on the hill for Harford. He needed just 58 pitches to get through five innings, surrendering a run on two hits and walk with six strikeouts. It was another solid performance from the Fighting Owl pitching staff. Harford starters have quietly pitched at least five innings and allowed two earned runs or less in six of their last seven games.
Â
Harford will host Region XX rival Chesapeake Friday afternoon. The MD JUCO foes are slated to play a pair with game one scheduled for a noon first pitch.
