BEL AIR, Md. - The No. 18 Harford baseball team won its 27th game with a 13-0 shutout over Prince George's on Tuesday. The win improved the first-place Fighting Owls to 14-0 in the MD JUCO Conference.
Freshman hurler
Josh Houser tossed 6.1 innings of shutout ball, scattering four hits while striking out four batters. He walked two and hit two and received plenty of run support as usual from the Fighting Owl bats.
For the 22nd time in 32 games, Harford scored in double figures, pounding out 14 hits in the win.
Logan Mummert went 3-for-5 with five RBIs and
Ben Bomberger also went 3-for-5 with two batted-in from the leadoff spot.
CJ Young saw his season-long hit streak come to an end at 25 games with an 0-for-5 performance. He almost legged out a tough groundball to third base in the final inning to extend the streak, but was called out to end the frame. The streak falls just short of the school record 28-game mark set by Shane Garrett in the 2013 season.
Dominic DiSabatino went 3-for-4 and
Brett Hash went 2-for-2 with three runs scored in his first game in a little over a week after missing time with a leg injury.
Michael Hanafin came in relief to record the final two outs with the bases loaded to preserve the shutout.
The Fighting Owls travel to Cecil on Thursday.
