BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford softball team (18-3) earned a doubleheader split with No. 8 Rowan College at Gloucester County (11-10) on Tuesday. The Fighting Owls won the opener for their 18th win of the year, tying for second in the school's annals.

Desi Joines was nearly unhittable again in the opener, striking out 11 batters to improve to 11-1. She did not walk a Roadrunner, and allowed just a bloop single and a well-placed bunt single in the second inning. Joines has seven shutouts and four two hit shutouts on the season.
The Fighting Owls scored one in the first and a pair in the second, but they broke the game open with a 6-run third inning.
Tori Brooks went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three other Fighting Owls had a pair of hits in the win.

Gloucester 11, Harford 4Tori Brooks clubbed her team-high sixth home run in a losing effort in the nightcap. Harford played sloppy, committing four errors en route to its worst loss of the season.
The four errors led to seven unearned runs for the Roadrunners, who constantly put pressure on the Harford defense with a well-balanced offense. RCGC totaled 13 hits, the second-most allowed by the Harford staff all season.
Katie Shultz fell to 6-2 on the year allowing seven runs (three earned) on 10 hits while striking out two.
The Fighting Owls host Delaware Tech on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
