Box Score 3 LINCOLN, R.I. - The Harford volleyball team (12-3) dropped the first match of the day but rebounded with a pair of wins to close out day one of the CCRI Classic. The final match of the day saw the Fighting Owls come back and defeat the host Knights, 2-1.
FIT 2, Harford 0The Fighting Owls attacked at a .059 clip, their second-lowest output of the season, in a straight-sets loss, 26-24, 25-19.
Alicia Horton tallied five kills while
Alexis Goldston had three winners without an error in the loss.
Morgan Tennant had 12 assists and
Tiyana Bumbray added a dozen digs.
Harford 2, NHTIThe Fighting Owls rebounded with a sweep of their own against New Hampshire Technical Institute. Horton's seven kills with just one error led the charge again. For the second-straight contest, Bumbray had four kills and 12 digs in the 25-19, 25-19 victory.
Harford 2, CCRI 1Harford lost the first set against the hosts from Rhode Island but battled back for the three-set win, 13-25, 25-16, 15-8. Tennant spread the wealth in the comeback with a day-high 21 assists on 23 kills. She distributed to five different Fighting Owls in the kill department.
For the third consecutive contest, Horton led the way offensively, this time with seven kills and zero errors for a .467 hitting percentage. Bumbray chipped in with five and Goldston and Plummer added four.
Sydney Newlon totaled a pair of kills on two attempts.
Braquelle Horton's 10 digs was a match-high. Â
The Fighting Owls continue the now six-team tournament on Sunday against Howard and Bunker Hill before the semifinals.
