BEL AIR, Md. - For the third time in four games, the Harford men's basketball team lost at the buzzer, falling to Monroe College, 63-61. The Mustangs tipped in a missed layup with 2.1 seconds left for the win.
In a contest that was close all the way through, Monroe used a 7-0 run to take a 59-51 lead with 6:17 remaining. Harford played lockdown defense to get back in the game, holding the Mustangs without a field goal from that point until the final tip-in.
Jon Warren scored seven-straight points to pull Harford closer at, 61-58, and
Davonte Williams hit a tough layup and a free through to tie the score with 15 seconds left, setting up the final seconds.
Taquan Givens, who had been instrumental in the Mustangs 7-0 run drove the lane with under five second left, but his layup rattle out. Ran Tut was there, however, for the game-winning tip-in.
Warren finished with a game-high 15 points, going 7-of-9 from the free throw line.
Jay Johnson added 10 points off the bench.
The Fighting Owls travel to Howard on Wednesday.
