HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The 15 hour bus ride would not stop the Fighting Owls from getting out to a great start as they went into the first intermission with a 17-14 lead.
  • Harford got up to a lead as large as nine at 30-21 with three minutes left in the first half, but Chipola went on a 9-0 run to tie the game. The Fighting Owls were able to get a last shot off as Dominique Walker hit a jumper at the buzzer to give Harford a 32-30 lead at halftime.
  • The third quarter was not as fortunate for the ladies in blue as Harford couldn't get a shot to fall and found themselves trailing 46-39 after 30 minutes of play.
  • Harford was able to get back within 8 points in the fourth quarter, but Chipola was able to pull away at the end for a 14 point win that was not indicative of how close the game was.
  • The Fighting Owls starting forwards were fantastic in the game led by Dahnye Redd with 14 points on 6-9 shooting from the floor along with 14 rebounds before fouling out of the game after 25 minutes on the court.
  • Dominique Walker was also great leading the team with 17 points as well as 7 rebounds.
  • Daisa Harris tallied 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists with Danielle Durjan adding 9 points.
GAME NOTES AND QUOTES:
  • Head Coach Michael Seney: "I thought we fought hard all game long. The shots just didn't fall in that dreadful third quarter and that was pretty much the difference in the game."
  • Forward Dahnye Redd: "We played great team ball but we have to remember to never get content. We have to keep our foot on the pedal the whole 40 minutes."
  • Forward Dominique Walker: "The little mistakes lost us the game, but we never gave up and we will never give up."
  • Durjan, Harris, and Walker all played 39 minutes before being pulled at the end when the result was no longer in question.
  • Nichole Collins and Redd both fouled out for the first time this season.
  • Harford was plagued by their three-point shooting as they were just 2-22 from behind the arc as a team.
UP NEXT:
  • The #16 ranked Fighting Owls will continue their Florida trip in Panama City where they will face #1 ranked Gulf Coast State.
  • Gulf Coast is the reigning NJCAA Division I National Champions and are currently 14-0 this season.
  • This game will be the last one for the Fighting Owls in 2016.
