HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Harford got out to an uncharacteristically slow start with seven turnovers in the first quarter combined with Monroe shooting well to start the game.
- The second quarter was marred by the Fighting Owls shooting woes as they went 0-8 from three-point range and 5-21 overall as the home team went into the break with a three point deficit.
- The vaunted Harford defense really showed up in the third quarter as they caused eight turnovers and held Monroe to 3-15 shooting and just eight points.
- On the other side of the court, All-American Daisa Harris offset her shooting difficulties by racking up 13 assists in the game including five in the third quarter. Harford regained the lead for good at 43-42 on a fast break layup by Dominique Walker.
- Danielle Durjan led the team with 23 points including eight in the fourth quarter with Walker trailing closely with 21 points on 10-12 shooting from the floor.
GAME NOTES:
- Head coach Michael Seney now has a career 30-1 record in the APG Federal Credit Union Arena.
- Daisa Harris shot just 2-14 from the field, but still finished just short of a triple double as she had 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 13 assists.
- Putting in a yeoman's work as always, Dahnye Redd pulled down 13 rebounds along with 9 points and a trio of steals. Redd also had the unenviable task of matching up with the 6'5" center Cristina Soriano of the Mustangs.
- Tolulope Otoki also helped out with guarding Soriano, tallying 8 rebounds and 2 blocks along with 8 points in 15 minutes of play.
