McHENRY, Md. - The top-seeded Harford women's basketball team won the 2016 MD JUCO Championship on Sunday, defeating rival Baltimore City, 74-63, for back-to-back titles.
MD JUCO All-Tournament MVP
Daisa Harris had 19 points and four triples. After hearing that she did not earn MD JUCO Player of the Year honors as voted on by the league's coaches, Harris matched up against the winner of that award, She'cquan Bailey, and dominated the matchup of the league's top performers from the opening tip. Bailey was held to nine points on 4-of-14 shooting by the hounding defense of Harris and she turned the ball over six times.
Mia Fitts also landed on the All-Tournament Team after leading the Fighting Owls with 24 points. She totaled 68 points in the three tourney games and connected on six triples.
Dominique Walker pulled in a career-high 21 rebounds to go along with nine points and four blocks. The effort from the freshman forward was her 16th double-digit rebounding contest of the season.
The Fighting Owls will again face Baltimore City in their next contest, the Region XX Championships on Feb. 26 at BCCC.
