BEL AIR, Md. - A pair of home runs keyed a pivotal five-run inning in the opener of the Harford baseball home-opening doubleheader against Mercyhurst North East on Saturday. The Fighting Owls won game one 7-4 and dropped game two, 8-6.
The Fighting Owls clubbed four home runs on the afternoon, with
Dominic DiSabatino connecting on one in each game, marking the second-straight outing a Fighting Owls' infielder had two home runs in a doubleheader.
Harford 7, MNE 4DiSabatino gave Harford a 4-3 lead in the third with a three-run homer and
JP Vail blasted a two-run bomb to rightfield to give the Fighting Owls a 6-3 lead.Â
Andrew Carber pitched two innings of scoreless releif to earn his first career win, striking out four.
TJ Pagan earned his second save, tossing 1.1 perfect innings.
Chase DeMars joined DiSabatino with a pair of hits and both DiSabatino and Vail knocked in three runs in the win.
MNE 8, Harford 6Four Harford hurlers combined for nine walks in the nightcap loss. Sophomore
Kyle Burger clubbed a two-run home run to get the Fighting Owls closer a 7-6, but thats as close as the team would get.
Will Brooke earned the loss, allowing three runs and walking three in two-thirds of an inning of relief.Â
DiSabatino had two hits and three RBIs in both games and Burger added a pair of hits, as well.
The Fighting Owls take on Mercyhurst North East on Sunday at 11 a.m.
