BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford baseball team split six home runs evenly in a doubleheader sweep of Allegany Saturday afternoon.
Nick Delp led the way offensively with long balls in both games while starting pitchers, Mike Adams and Josh Silvesti held Allegany at bay while going the distance in their respective games.
Harford 10, Allegany 1Delp launched an opposite field shot to right field in game one for the first home run of his collegiate career. The shot broke a 1-1 tie in the second inning and was the first of back-to-back home runs.
Max Joseph was on the backend of the back-to-back jacks. He cranked a 3-2 pitch out to left, his second of the season, which gave Harford a 3-1 lead.
Harford would not look back as they continued to add on runs. The biggest blow of the game came in the fourth inning when
Daulton Weeks smashed his fifth home run of the season, a three-run bomb to left field, putting Harford up 7-1.
Adams (2-0) was efficient on the mound Saturday as he was able to go all seven innings throwing 91 pitches. He allowed just one run on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
Harford 14, Allegany 1 (5)Silvestri (2-0) was equally as efficient in game two. He held Allegany (3-8, 0-5) to just two hits over five innings, striking out nine and allowing no walks.
Delp struck again for his second home run of the day in the second inning. He hit a 1-1 pitch out to left field for a three-run shot, putting Harford up 4-0.
Jack Hamner also went deep in the second, launching a solo shot to left field for his third home run of the season.
Kyle Burger hit his second home run of the season, another three-run shot to right field in the third inning.
Ben Bomberger went 3-for-3 at the dish with two doubles and a triple.
Joe Burton was 2-for-2 with a double and a stolen base.
Harford will be on road again on Tuesday as they travel to Baltimore to face CCBC Catonsville. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
