BEL AIR, Md. - The top-ranked Monroe CC women's lacrosse team handed No. 4 Harford its first loss of the season on Friday, 22-12.
The 12 goals scored by the Fighting Owls is the most allowed by the Tribunes during their 53-game win streak, dating back to the 2013 season opener.Â
Lauren Haggerty scored five goals and added an assist to lead Harford in scoring and
Cassidy Jones dished out four assists. Haggerty scored the first goal of the game and after Harford fell behind 3-1, she won back-to-back draws and found the back of the net to knot the game at 3-3. In all, Haggerty led all players with 17 draw controls.
After falling behind 14-5 at the break, the Fighting Owls scored four-straight goals to battle back but it wasn't enough against the three-time defending champs.
Megan Aro, Brittany Minski and
Sierra Donovan each chipped in with a pair of goals.Â
Allie Storke made 12 saves in her first loss of the year.Â
The Fighting Owls travel to Anne Arundel on March 30.
