BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford softball team was unable to get things going offensively against the top team in the conference on Wednesday. The Chesapeake pitchers combined for 24 strikeouts in the doubleheader sweep as Harford fell 17-0 in five and 8-0 in seven.
In game one, Rachael Milligan struck out 11 batters and allowed three hits in the short shutout. In the nightcap, Chloe Day struck out 13 batters and also allowed three hits.
Julia Sanders and
Bethanie Cook both collected a base hit in both contests while
Emily Wikane and P.Imani Gilliard added a hit on the afternoon.
Amanda Hildebrandt pitched well enough in game two to hand Chesapeake its first loss in conference play this season but got zero run support and had a few miscues behind her in the field. The freshman allowed eight runs, but just two were earned in the loss.
The Fighting Owls host Brookdale on Thursday at 5 p.m.
