BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford softball team (8-24) was swept by Brookdale (18-10) on Thursday at home. The Fighting Owls lost 11-1 and 15-7.
In the opener, Harford battled through a scoreless first three innings and trailed just 5-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Julia Sanders collected an RBI, bringing home
Amanda Hildebrandt, but the Fighting Owls stranded a pair and headed to the seventh where they allowed six runs in the loss.
Emily Wikane collected two of the team's four hits, inlcuding a double.Â
In the nightcap, Brookdale batted around twice in the first inning, taking a 12-0 lead and looked to cruise to the win before an eventful fifth inning. The Fighting Owls scored six times but it was one run short of extending the contest in the 8-run rule loss.Â
The Fighting Owls batted around in the fifth as Lidsey Fenner brought two home with a single to left and Cook's single brought two more home. Cook went 3-for-4 and Fenner went 3-for-3 in game two.Â
The Fighting Owls have two road doubleheaders before returning home on Wednesday for their season finale against Anne Arundel at 6 p.m.
