Baseball Launches Record Nine Homers In Dundalk Rout

BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford baseball team put on an incredible power display Tuesday evening, smashing a team record nine home runs in their 33-5 win over CCBC Dundalk.

Harford (38-8, 22-1 MD JUCO) jumped all over the visiting Lions (18-25, 10-13 MD JUCO) and never let up. The nine home run performance pushed the team's record total to 91 on the season, third best in the nation.

Jack Hamner led the game off with a blast that went over the scoreboard in left field for his seventh of the season. Dominic DiSabatino smacked the very next pitch over the fence to right center for his 13th of the season. After a Chase DeMars single, Joe Burton hit a line drive over the wall in dead center for a two-run shot, his 11th home run of the season.

The Fighting Owls' first nine batters all reached base. DeMars launched a three-run homer to cap off the 11-run opening frame which saw the Harford send 15 men to the plate.

Harford would continue to pour it on in the second as they scored nine more runs and launched three more home runs. Hamner and DeMars hit their second homers of the game, both two-run shots. Hamner hit his eighth of the season. DeMars hit his 11th and finished the day going 3-for-3 with five runs batted in. Christian Sims got in on the action with a three-run, opposite field shot to right field.

Harford would go on to score two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and seven more in the sixth inning. Daulton Weeks connected for his conference leading 14th home run in the third inning. He also had an RBI double in the fourth. He went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and two walks. Toby Sponseller hit the record-breaking ninth home run of the season in the fifth inning. The two-run bomb was his third of the season.

Aaron Gress (2-0) was credited with the win on the mound. He made the start and pitched two innings on a pitch count. He gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk.
