BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team won its 19th game in 20 tries with another MD JUCO sweep on Sunday. The Fighting Owls (26-7, 12-1 MD JUCO) beat visiting Garrett (10-18, 2-9 MD JUCO), 11-10 and 9-5.
In both contests, the Fighting Owls entered the bottom of the fifth inning trailing the Lakers, and in both cases, Harford's powerful offense erupted for four runs in game one and seven in game two to take control. In the opener, a three-run sixth expanded Harford's lead and
Dominic DiSabatino was called upon to twart a late-inning rally to earn his second save. In game two,
TJ Pagan pitched out of a jam in the sixth and retired the side in the seventh for his fifth save.
The Fighting Owls belted three home runs in the sweep, bringing their team total to 63 in 33 games, a total that ranks third in the nation.
Daulton Weeks connected on his MD JUCO-leading 10th home run of the season, a pivotal shot in the fifth inning of game two. DiSabatino's eighth longball tied the score two batters later.
Chase DeMars' hit his ninth of the season in game one.

Harford 11, Garrett 10The two teams traded two-run innings to open things up before Mitch Davis scored an unearned run in the fourth on a wild pitch to give Garrett a 5-4 lead. DiSabatino started the fifth-inning comeback with a two-run single to center and he scored on
Colby Dean's double down the rightfield line. Dean then stole third and scampered home on the same pitch that got away from the Laker catcher to give Harford an 8-5 lead.
The Fighting Owls would tack on three more in the sixth to seemingly put the game out of reach, but Garrett mounted a comeback that fell just short after a base-running error.
Aaron Gress (1-0) breezed through the fifth and sixth innings but couldn't escape the final frame unscathed. He hit Ryan Colaw to open the inning but retired the next two batters sitting one out away from the victory. Gress then hit the next batter, allowed back-to-back singles, including a two-run knock to right that plated a pair. After a base on balls to load the bases, head coach
Tom Eller brought in DiSabatino to end the threat, but Ricky Christoff unloaded the bases with a double to right center to make the score 11-10.
Garrett swapped out the pinch hitter for a pinch runner and Johnny Kesling hit a slow-moving chopper to third base. Weeks would have had a tough play to get Kesling at first, but the pinch runner almost ran right into the Fighting Owl third baseman, and Weeks ended the game with a tag.

Harford 9, Garrett 5Garrett's Mark Smith held Harford's attack at bay for the first four innings, as the Fighting Owls managed just one run on four hits until the pivotal fifth inning outburst. A pair of two-run homers tied the game at 5-5, and
Ty Williams single proved to be the game winner. After a Garrett pitching change, DeMars doubled home two more for an 8-5 lead.
In the top of the sixth, after the Lakers had two on with one out, Pagan came in and induced a 5-3 inning-ending double play to end the Laker threat.
Riley Lane earned his first win of the season, earning the final two outs of the fifth.
The Fighting Owls travel to Anne Arundel on Tuesday.
